Behind every great Gerry Flynn event is a small but mighty team of people who wear more hats than a ballroom floor has dance shoes at midnight.
Gerry Flynn
If Gerry isn’t on the desk, checking a ballroom floor, fixing a microphone or telling stories at 2am, then he’s somewhere making sure a music and dance holiday runs exactly as it should.
Originally from Ballina, Co. Mayo Ireland, Gerry has spent more than four decades building one of the most recognised names in dance holidays, music weekends and festivals events across the globe, alongside Sue.
Before founding the company, Gerry worked with the Irish Tourist Board, gaining deep experience in travel, people and destinations - knowledge that still shapes how every Gerry Flynn Events music and dance break is created today.
He’s a natural storyteller, and if you’re lucky enough to sit near him during one of our famous late-night sessions, you’ll hear stories from decades on the road that will have the whole table laughing long into the night.
Sue Flynn
Every successful dance holiday and music holiday needs somebody making sure the wheels never come off - and that person is Susan
Married to Gerry for sixty years and very much the heart of the company, Sue has quietly helped hold together four decades of festivals, music weekends, holidays, bookings, late-night arrivals, lost passports, dance schedules and well over 100,000 happy guests - all with the patience of a saint.
While Gerry might be the voice on the microphone, Sue is often the calm force making sure everything actually works. Guests know her for her warmth, her memory for names, and her ability to make even the biggest dance events feel like a family gathering
Together, Gerry and Sue built this business from the ground up and continue to work as hard now as they did in the early days - making the impossible look easy.
Piret Annus - Senior Dance Instructor
Originally from Estonia and now firmly part of the Belfast dance scene, Piret brings extraordinary energy and experience to every Gerry Flynn event.
She runs her own successful company, Dance Express, teaching classes across Northern Ireland while also teaching regularly on Gerry Flynn holidays and festivals. Piret is also recognised as the pioneering figure behind Costa del Salsa and helps run Salsa Belfast - the city’s longest-running non-profit salsa social.
But dancing is only part of the story.
Piret also helps coordinate flights and travel for many of our entertainers, has a brilliant ear for music, helps shape the atmosphere of our events, and is often the person scouting new locations and venues for future adventures.
Teacher, organiser, travel coordinator, music lover, location scout… like we said earlier, many hats.
Bernie Doherty
Marketing
Bernie is Gerry’s sister, and has quite literally known him her whole life - which probably explains her superhuman organisational skills.
A true powerhouse behind the scenes, Bernie is one of those rare people who seems to be everywhere at once, keeping things organised, connected and moving forward with calm precision and a lot of heart. Quite honestly, she’s a bit of a Wonderwoman.
She is a well-known figure in the Daniel O’Donnell fan community, running the Daniel O’Donnell North West Association and organising fan gatherings, dinner dances and music events across the UK and Ireland for over 20 years.
Bernie also hosts “Bernie’s Corner”, her music and chat podcast, and runs our Facebook page, keeping guests connected to everything happening across the Gerry Flynn Events dance and music holidays programme.
Warm-hearted, genuinely lovely, and proper Irish in the best sense of the word, Bernie brings a kindness and authenticity that can’t be taught - and you’ll genuinely never meet another like her.
At Gerry Flynn Events, she quietly helps with far more than anyone ever sees, always stepping in where she’s needed and doing it all with humour, care and a huge amount of heart.
Kieran Towey -Accounts Manager
Kieran moves between the stage, the front door, the office and the back of a van - and somehow keeps everything working across busy live music festivals and dance holidays in Ireland, UK and Europe.
Kieran is a well-known Irish accordion player who also performs at our live music and dance holidays. He’s an expert at his craft, bringing energy, drive and real character to every performance. Whether it’s a packed ballroom or a lively late-night session, Kieran knows how to get the music going and keep it going.
Alongside his musical work, Kieran has a natural numbers mind and a sharp eye for detail - the kind of person who spots what needs sorting long before anyone else notices, and makes sure nothing slips through the cracks.
At our music and dance holidays, Kieran is also a constant presence at the heart of operations. He works on the desk at all events, helping guests with queries and keeping things running smoothly on the ground, and is also based in the Blackburn office alongside Gerry and Sue, where the day-to-day planning and organising happens.
He’s equally comfortable handling the fast pace of live music events, loading gear, sorting logistics, or stepping in wherever he’s needed. Musician, office team, front-of-house, detail-driven organiser, problem solver - another of our many hats, and a key part of what keeps everything working.
